She has made appearances across Canada and has represented Canada internationally in countries including the UK, Germany, Senegal, Australia, Cuba, Jamaica and Mexico. Originally performed live in 2011, the piece has Turner, in her MissCanadiana persona, act as tour guide to hidden Black histories of Toronto’s Grange neighbourhood. A MissCanadiana installation, including a video of her appearances and a display of kitsch Canadiana collected by Turner, is showing at Toronto's WARC Gallery, 401 Richmond St. W., suite 122, until Feb. MISSCANADIANA The idea for the performance came to Turner in a shopping mall in North Bay. Having stopped there for supplies for a camping trip in northern Ontario, she was surprised by the attention her presence elicited from the other shoppers.
