The Accutron debuted in 1960, and it was a horological revolution. It was the world’s first fully electronic watch and used a tuning fork to regulate timekeeping, providing accuracy and precision that outperformed even the most expensive chronometer-certified wristwatches. The Bulova AccutronSpaceview, replete with incredible accuracy and a space-age look, represented a technological milestone that foreshadowed quartz watches. It elevates the bar with modernist-minimal aesthetics mixed with sci-fi touches.” There are four sporty skeletonized watches in the Accutron DNA collection, all retailing for $3,300. With both watchesAccutron pays tribute to the innovative legacy, both in looks and in technology. The tuning fork now exists in the logo, but the beating heart of the watch is bringing something completely new: an electrostatic movement. The new Accutronwatches are, fundamentally, quartz watches, but they do not so much represent a refinement of quartz timekeeping technology as they do a use of the quartz resonator as a jumping-off point for an aesthetic re-invention of such technology. Six decades later, Accutron continues to revolutionize the watch industry with the Spaceview 2020 that’s powered by a whole new method of timekeeping. When the first AccutronSpaceviewwatch launched in the early 60’s it was powered by the innovative tuning fork mechanism. Interestingly, it featured an open-worked dial offering a clear view into the meticulously hand-assembled engine from within its case.
